On the border of the eastern Ukraine, almost in the grey war zone, is a church that is in every way salt and light in its very challenging environment. The lead couple, Slava and Sasha Balaguraslava, have been connected relationally to us for more than 10 years and it has been a joy to see them establishing the church they planted in Bakhmut.
Sasha, Slava and their team are doing all they can to help the local population by providing for both the spiritual and the physical needs of their community. Every week they transport bread and fresh products to those in the grey zone who are so cut off from the rest of the world.
Recently, Activate Network was involved in a project headed up Adnan Yaqub, who is part of the Activate Network Translocal Teams, to help this church buy its own building. Many gave extremely generously to make this possible. What a joy it has been to receive pictures of the inaugural celebration meeting in the new building. What a special moment for our Network and for all our partners and friends!
